Mark is a meteorologist and retired Meteorological Service staff member with over seven years experience on Campbell Island between 1969 and 1991, where he monitored Subantarctic weather at the Campbell Island weather station prior to its automation.

Few people know the Campbell Island terrain and untracked areas as well as Mark; he is an island expert in terms of climate, island conditions, and expedition team management.
